Belize. Stann Creek. Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, 2km E of visitors centre, along access road road just inside reserve.

Habitat
South-facing roadside, in tropical evergreen, lowland, seasonal, broadleaf forest: Yucatan variant, frequently cut back and disturbed. Growing in association with Leandra mexicana, Clidemia capitellata, Clidemia hirta, Arthrostemma ciliatum, & Clidemia dentata. Frequent. Red clay-based soil in floodplain of tributary to South Stann Creek, granite bedrock with occasional limestone pockets.

Description
Large herb up to 2m, inflorescences with numerous red hairs and black fruit. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
