Costa Rica. Cartago. Ca. 4 -6 km. N of Trinidad on the south facing slopes of Volcan Turrialba.

Habitat
Pastured areas and forest margins.

Description
Tree 20 ft. Tall. Inflorescence somewhat pendant. Petals bright red; filaments and anthers reddish purple. Appendages white. Note bilamellate stipule like structures paired at each node as well as the knoblike projection on upper surface of least at junction of blade and petiole. Only two trees seen. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
