Habitat
In moist, humus-covered earth of steep damp forested slopes along the creek.

Description
Small, erect shrub-like trees; stem 4 inches thick; wood hard, heavy, and dingy white, without odor or taste; bark thin, yellowish-gray; leaves thinly coriaceous; inflorescence stalks greenish; flowers light sulphur; fruits pendant upon reddish spikes, oboidly globose, 1/3 to 1/2 inch long, green except the reddish-brown sides (Additional notes attached to specimen). Phenology of specimen: Flower.
