  • Habitat

    Above top of initial slope from coast and along gradual slope beyond to peak of ridge. Pinus pumila and Alnus sp. as the dominant vegetation with and extensive cover of ericads (Vaccinium, Rhododendron), Empetrum or grasses and tall forbs (Filipendula, Cirsium). Dominant in extensive stands.

    Plants to 1.5 m. tall. Female cones greenish with brown overlay, older needles with blue/green cast. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
