    Shrub, the stems to 10cm in diameter, this growth very vigorous resprouting from being cut back a few years ago, and all twigs with large, broad-based thorns. Spontaneous, evidently a casual escape from plant(s) cultivated at the nearby New York Botanical Garden. Female; flowering inflorescences very inconspicuous, but this plant does form fruits.
