In moist fertile soil of oak forests.

Description
Tree, 25 feet. Leaves much paler beneath, with recurved tips, usually cunduplicate on the upper side; peduncles, calyx and buds green, the former recurved; flowers odorless, pendulous; the 4 petals thick, creamy white; anthers lemon yellow. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
