Stratum pulvinate-tomentose, blackish; filaments 10-15 mic. in diameter,
irregularly pseudo-branchcd; sheath yellowish, tubulose; trichomes 5-6
mic. in diameter, cylindrical (not torulose); heterocysts at base of
branches or intercalary, 1-2 in number.
On vertical rocks just above high tide.
