Description
Pileus 4.5-20 cm broad, convex to plane, dry, matted fibrillose to matted tomentose, tan to grayish orange (5B4,3), staining brown when bruised, sometimes with slight sterile projecting margin. Flesh yellow, lightly cyanescent, with mild odor and taste. Tubes adnate to adnexed, yellow, cyanescent with pores rarely pale apricot pink, otherwise yellow and cyanescent, becoming pale reddish brown with age. Stipe 3-9 cm long, 2-7 cm broad, equal to clavate, usually tapered at base, stout and broad, dry, matted subtomentose to pruinose to subpruinose with occasional and scattered low ridges, yellow to pale yellow above, pale tan below bruising brownish, rarely with some scattered pale red tones, yellowish white at base, with flesh yellow, lightly cyanescent.
