Plant mass blue-green, membranaceous; filaments somewhat straight; sheaths thin; trich-
omes 3-5 mic. in diameter, straight or curved, not constricted at joints, straight and
briefly tapering at apex, not capitate; cells 4-8 mic. in length; transverse walls marked
by refringent granules; apical cell obtusely conical; calyptra none.
On bottoms of dried alkali ponds.

Plant mass forming a dark-colored or reddish firm crust; filaments flexuose, densely
intermingled; sheaths narrow, more or less distinct; trichomes 1-1,5 mic. in diameter,
pale bluish-green, not constricted at the joints, with straight, briefly attenuated, non-
capitate apex; transverse walls not visible.
In a pool of very warm water close to a hot spring.
