saepe dichotomis) vel binis (ut plurimum oppositis) nee non ternis (raro quatemas)
flagelliformibus vel verticillatis, principalibus sub angulo subacuto egredientibus, ceter-
is plus-minus patentibus; ramis radiciformibus in inferiore thalli parte haud raris, ad
ortum trunco arete adpressis; cellulis cylindricis, saepius sursum paulo incrassatis, ad
septa vix constrictis, filorum principalium sublongis, ramulorum brevioribus, termin-
alibus obtusis, omnibus membrana subcrassa praeditis.”

Forming a densely interwoven, woolly, widely expanded, olive green layer about 3 mm.
in thickness; filaments matted, crispate, irregularly branched, 27-30 mic. in diameter;
ccenocytes up to 12 times longer than wide; rhizoidal filaments long, numerous.
Forming a layer covering rocks on bottom and sides of basin of /‘warm spring.” Tem-
perature at 7 a. m., 31+° C. With other algae.
