Habitat
Upland forest. Soil compact, reddish, dense, finelyu-grained, poorly drained. Common forest type of southeastern Peru, below 700 m elevation.

Description
Habit both epiphytic and terrestrial, Roots reddish, collected 16 March. Phenology of specimen: Sterile.

Notes (shown on label)
Roots are jmashed in water (boiled?) and used to treat diarrhea. (According to José Armas, a Campa Indian living in this area for 20-30 ears but originally from farther NW).
