Georeferencing Method
BioGeomancer, Guide to Best Practices for Georefer. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of the airport of San Carlos de Río Negro in Mun. Río Negro, Amazonas, Venezuela, taking into account the added uncertainty of the word "alrededores" (surroundings) in the locality description. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the airport of San Carlos de Río Negro. Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to find the total extent of the airport campus, then halved this distance to approximate the location of the midpoint of the airport. Measured to approximately this halved distance from one extreme of the airport toward the center; used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the geographic center. In this instance, it is difficult to determine what could be considered the nearest named place; instead, doubled the linear extent (200%) and used this as the new linear extent (according to the Biogeomancer Guide to Best Practices for Georeferencing, Aug. 2006). Input coordinates, linear extent (1490.538 m), and measurement error (0.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide (according to Biogeomancer Guide to Best Practices for Georeferencing, Near a Feature).
