This anomalous plant has regular dichotomous branching with the
constrictions at the forkings tinged with red, and the irregular lateral
branches (stolons) repeatedly constricted. The tuber-like swellings
at the apices are spherical, one-eighth to one-quarter mm. diam., the
vegetative filaments average one-tenth mm. diam.
