The specimens answer exactly Harvey’s description in the Nereis,
even to lacking in »11 cases the lower pQTtioa of the frond. The speci-
mens secured are lften two to tljree meters in length and very slendei%
looking at first sights very unlike- C. osmundacea. Careful comparison^
however, leads to tUp belief that they are only deep water forms of the
common litoral and i%>per sublitoral species!
