From typical E. minima Naeg., distributed as P. B.-A., No. 468 b,
this form differs by the lighter color, greater length of filaments, more
gelatinous substance, and by its occurrence in fresh water. It has
hitherto been found only in salt or brackish water, seldom exceeding
one or two centimeters in length.
