  • Description

    Tree with stem 7 m. tall, 20 cm. in diameter, the outer 7 cm. light brown and very hard, the surface nearly smooth, lightly fissured, the stem smooth after leaves fall. Crown with 8 green leaves and 5 dead ones; blade 2.1 m. long; leaflets 148 per side, in groups of (2)3-4, horizontal and at angles above the blade. Inflorescence with green, immature fruit hanging from among the dead leaves; spathe woody, curved slightly, 30 cm. wide in middle, 1 m. long, furrowed-plicate on the outside, 3-4 mm thick; inflorescence branches glaucous green, the rachis 75 cm. long, the branches equal, all simple, 45 cm. long at base, ca. 15 cm. long at tip. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
