Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the western bank of Rio Madeira across from the city of Abuña, Rondônia, in Nueva Manoa, Pando, Bolivia. Used Google Maps - Map and Earth Views to locate the city of Abuña, along Rio Madeira. Used the Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the shore of Rio Madeira opposite of the approximate geographic center of the city of Abuña (approximate geographic center of shore Abuña: -9.704187, -65.365883). Because locality description references Abuña ("opposite Abuña"), used the Google Maps – Measure Distance Tool to find the linear extent of the shoreline of Abuña by measuring from the coordinates of the approximate geographic center of the shore of Abuña to the nearest named place along the same side of the river, El Borach (-9.665892, -65.433300), then halving this distance. Input: coordinates, coordinate precision (0.00001 degrees), datum (WGS84), linear extent (4260.0 m), measurement error (10 m), into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (4271.569 m). According to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide: Named Place, river, stream, road, path.
