Habitat
On conglomerate sandstone rock with partly burnt-over vegetation among rocks by river and neighboring hillside.

Description
Wandlike shrub to 5 m., stems 4-5 cm. in diameter below, with ring of hairs in middle area of stems. Stems glaucous with waxy bloom above. Leaves mid-green above, slightly glossy, grey-green beneath. Calyx tinged dark purple (or rarely in lilac flowered plants, tinged grey). Corolla usually pale violet-blue, with darker blue pattern of lines at base of upper lobes. In some plants corolla palest lilac, with pinkish labellum and slate grey lines on upper lobes. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
