Habitat
Nearly flat, non-inundated uplant evergreen forest dominated by scattered emergent Bertholletia excelsa.

Description
Tree. cut (illegally) to clear a "chacra," 40 m tall (measured), 1 m in diam., with straight trunk from ground to 26 m at first branches. Wood light brown; bark thick, brown, fissured, exuding a red gum. Immature fruit brown, the shell woody, very hard, the outside with sticky sap; immataure nuts golden-brown, the meat white, tender and with a good, light taste, said to be preferred to the mature nuts but difficult to obtain; seed embedded in hard yellow flesh. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
