Habitat
Nearly flat, non-inundated upland. Evergreen forest dominated by scattered emergent Bertholletia excelsa.

Description
Huge tree, 1.2 m in diam., no butresses but somewhat expanded at base. Bark brown, longitudinally furrowed; trunk clean until level of general canopy, then with spreading branches. THis tree seems to only be flushing new leaves. Fruits old, from ground as are the leaves; fruits on tree now, said to fall in end of January and gathered then and in February. Only the terminal seed in each fruit said to germinate. Monkeys will try to break the fruits and the seeds will scatter. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
