Forming a plush-like mass among Salicornia, etc., on ground over-
flowed at high tide only. Habit like V. Thuretii, Woronin ; the stratum
so dense that large sheets can be cut out with a knife, and lifted up.
Dimensions of filament as in typical V. piloboloides ; oogonia and an-
theridia as in type, except that the oospores are usually spherical, but
sometimes lentiform ; oogonia and antheridia scattered over the fila-
ments, not in any apparent definite relation to each other.
