Mexico. Jalisco. Sierra de Manantlán [25-30 km SE of Autlán], along lumber-roads E of the road-crossing called "La Cumbre" between El Chante and Cuzalapa.

Habitat
Steep slopes. Steep rocky bank among shrubs. On the ridges and summits. Humid forest with Abies, Quercus and other decidous trees, with Pinus dominant. Locally abundant.

Description
To more that 1 m high, woody at base, root apparently annual. Calyx orange-red, green toward base; corolla yellow, the back of the galea green; lower lip green or dark red. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
