Habitat
Dry grassland on quartzite and white sand, apparently subject to flooding. This plant growing in grassland. With red lateritic soils in the valleys with cerrado.

Description
Tree to ca. 3 m. with very thick corky deeply-fissured bark, greyish in color. Leaves dark green, glossy beneath, tawny beige beneath, turning greyer when old. Young inflorescences pale buff. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
