Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Treated this locality as an offset with distance only provided (no direction specified), interpreting it as 3 km (unknown direction) from the mouth of Rio Curicuriari, along Rio Negro. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of the mouth of Rio Curicuriari, a tributary of Rio Negro, in São Gabriel da Cachoeira, Amazonas, taking into consideration the offset distance mentioned. Used the Google Maps - Earth View to locate the mouth of Rio Curicuriari (confluence of Rio Curicuriari and Rio Negro). Used the Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic center of the mouth of the river, on the adjacent shore at the village of Lucaí (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to find the linear extent of the mouth of the river by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the confluence of the rivers. Input coordinates, linear extent (1.170 km), measurement error (.025 km), offset distance (3 km), and distance precision (1 km) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Offset: Offset only, no direction).
