Habitat
Disturbed alluvial bench to northwest of road, adjacent slopes steep and rocky. Open scrub of Rhus trilobata, Artemisia tridentata, Sambucus mexicana, and Urtica dioica subsp. holosericea. Locally common.

Large, rounded, thicket-shrubs, flowers yellow, buds and younger ones with floral tube flushed with red. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
