  • Description

    Pileus 2-8 cm broad, convex to plano-convex, dry, very slightly tacky (univ. veil), orange brown (6C-D8,7), heavily tomentose to matted areolate-subverruculose, soon finely areolate, with greenish yellow between orange brown areoles, staining a pale lime green, with a sulfur to bright yellow universal veil, leaving a collapsed annular zone on stipe. Tubes adnexed, dull olive yellow to absinthe yellow (3C6,5,4), cyanescent, with pores likewise. Flesh pale orange yellow to pale yellow, slowly cyanescent, with mild odor and taste. Stipe 2.5-8 cm long, 1-2 cm broad, equal, dry, covered with peronate, bright yellow veil at first, staining pale lime green, developing orange brown pulverulent-floccose scales, especially with maturity, bruising pale lime green, with interior pale brownish orange, especially at base, paler above, erratically and slowly pale cyanescent, with bright yellow mycelium at base.
