  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of the eastern shore of Peninsula State Park along Eagle Harbor. Used Google Maps – Earth and Map Views to locate Eagle Harbor near Peninsula State Park in Door County, Wisconsin. Used the Google Maps – Measure Distance Tool to measure a straight line on the shore of Peninsula State Park along Eagle Harbor, then halved this distance to find the midpoint of the line. Chose a point nearest to the midpoint along the shore (collection assumed to be terrestrial) and used the Google Maps – What's Here Tool to find coordinates. Used the Google maps – Measure Distance Tool to find the linear extent of the shore by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the river. Input coordinate source (locality description), coordinates, datum (WGS84), coordinate precision (0.00001 degrees), linear extent (1060 m), and measurement error (10 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to the Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Near a named place).
