Collected for winter characters. Winter characters of hazel-nut: twigs rather slender, zigzag. Pith continuous, somewhat 3-sided. Buds solitary, sessile. Leaf-scars alternate, 2-ranked. Bundle-traces 3, or more. Stipular-scars elongated. Catkins elongate. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
