Habitat
Carbonate colluvium sloping 30° NW in a tributary wash. Pinyon-Juniper woodland with Artemisia, Pinus, Juniperus, Ephedra, and Cymopterus. Locally common on carbonate outcrop in Inyo County.

Perennials forming leafy mats to 5 dm. across. Phenology of specimen: Fertile, Flower.
