Description
One small tree 9 m tall, 12 cm in diameter, bark smooth, gray. A single plant of this species seen in the Forest and an undoubted escape from cultivation; there is only one plant I know of in the area, cultivated across Southern Boulevard from the New York Botanical Garden. Crushed foliage aromatic, like some Zanthoxylum, also somewhat like Phellodendron. Flowers beginning; inflorescence creamy white; flowers with musty odor, anthers yellow. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
