Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Assumed that "Rio Ariranha" was a misspelling of Rio Arirará. Referred to the maps provided by "Marreco Pesca Esportiva" website for location information of Rio Arirará (http://marrecopescaesportiva.com.br/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/afluentesnegro22.jpg, accessed: 9/5/2014). Used the reference maps and Google Maps - Earth View to locate Rio Negro between the village of Moreira and Rio Arirará. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to measure a straight line between the approximate geographic center of the shoreline of Moreira and the approximate geographic center of the mouth of Rio Arirará (confluence of Rio Arirará and Rio Negro), then halved this distance to find the midpoint of the line. Chose a point along Rio Negro nearest to the midpoint of this line; used Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the approximate midpoint of the river, along the adjacent southern shore. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the segment of river. Input coordinates, linear extent (5450.0 m), and measurement error (2.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
