Georeferenced to 21 km. north of Rio Cumina-mirim, a tributary of Rio Cuminá, in Obidos, Pará, in accordance with other locality descriptions. Referred to GetAMap.net website for location information for Rio Cumina-mirim (http://www.getamap.net/maps/brazil/para/_cuminamirim_rio/). Using the reference map and Google Maps - Satellite View, located Rio Cumina-mirim. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line between the mouth of Rio Cumina-mirim (confluence of Rio Cumina-mirim and Rio Cuminá/Igarapé Ariramba) and the source of the river (approximated through the dense forest cover), then halved this distance to approximate the location of the midpoint of the river. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the midpoint of Rio Cumina-mirim, on the adjacent shore. To find the 21 km. north offset: input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of Rio Cumina-mirim, 10865.4 m.), measurement error (.1 m.), offset distance (21000 m.), offset direction (N), and distance precision (100 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Offset: Offset at a heading). Offset coordinates are located within the mountainous region.
