    Costa Rica. Heredia. Finca La Selva, the OTS Field Station on the Río Puerto Viejo jsut eats of its junction with the Río Sarapiquí. At edge of lawn by station. Known as Ocotea mollifolia at La Selva.

  • Description

    Tree 20 m. tall, 40 cm. dbh; bark orange, the slash oxidizing orange, slimy next to the wood, prop rooted; leaves dark green, shiy above, dull, pale and glaucous below; fruit 2 cm. long x 1 cm. wide, obtuse and apiculate, green; the cupule brown, urceolate ca. 1.5 cm. at widest, 1.5 cm. long; cotyledons pink-burgundy; flowers rusty tan. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
