United States of America. California. Mono Co. Glass Mountain Region: north edge of Long Valley: conspicuous solitary rhyodacite dome arising from valley floor, appx. 4 miles north of Benton Crossing/ Owens River. (Dexter Canyon quad).

Habitat
Volcanic cone rising 500 ft. above valley floor. Grazed/ disturbed scrub of Artemisia tridentata, Purshia tridentata, Grayia spinosa, Prunus andersonii, Bromus tectorum, Hesperostipa comata, Leymus cinereus, Phacelia bicolor and a few scattered Juniperus and Pinus monphylla. Conspicuous populations on west-facing slope just below summit of cone. Soft sandy pumice soil with rhyodacite outcrops.
