  • Habitat

    Campo cerrado on upland (or occasionally forest). Open marsh or dense secondary forest along streams. This habitat: abandoned cultivated field behind main house of fazenda, with dense growth of grasses & herbs 3-4 dm. tall. Originally cerrado vegetation. Poor soil, light brown fine sand with a little clay.

  • Description

    Herb 2½ ft. tall with perennial woody base. Fls. yellow, outside of corolla flushed with red. Lvs. shining above. Young frts. reddish on exposed sides, green on covered sides. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
