Note: Localities: litt. Nov.21,1926. par.,6:
"I first found the plant in a pool near the
University of Virginia. I afterwards found
it in great abundance in the city of Charlottesville
reservoir (five miles away; and In. much finjier
condition: but the city has quiteovergrown that
reservoir and in the last three years has built a much
larger one in the Blue Ridge, at a higher xevel,,
the large main of which has been brought to the old
reservoir— -M

carfully selected from some excellent material
collected at the City Reservoir....:
data on antheridium: litt. dated Oct. 29, 1923.
par. 2" It is the interesting fact that the
primary antheridial cell undergores but two
cleavages, in steady of three: both, of
course, are longitudinal, forming four shield cells,
each with a single manubrial cell. etc. a condition
tp/ which I do not find referred to in this or any other
genus of the whole group.
