Russia. Kuril Archipelago: Rasshua, inland from southwest of island near the Arches. Above top of initial steep slope from coast and along gradual slope beyond to peak of ridge.

Habitat
Pinus pumila and Alnus sp. as the dominant vegetation with and extensive low cover of ericads (Vaccinium, Rhododendron), Empetrum or grasses and tall forbs (Filipendula, Cirsium).

Description
Fide Ohwi, Flora of Japan; female cones greenish with brown overlay, older needles with blue/green cast, plants up to 1.5 m tall; dominant in extensive stands. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
