Coastal lowland of mixed hardwoods (Betula, Kalopanax, Populus); understory dominated by Sasa sp. with Pteridium as secondary.

Tree ca 15 feet tall, needles per fascicle variable, 1-5; tree windswept. Phenology of specimen: Sterile.
