Several discs of an alga which I think is referable to this species were found. The young plants are regularly formed and agree well with my figures (I.e., 3 a and b). The older thalli are more irregular, having a very uneven margin. The largest discs seen were only about 8 [a broad. The peripheral, cylindrical, often forked cells are about 3 [A. thick. The shorter, oblong or more irregular formed cells are a little broader in the middle. In some of the specimens sporangia were present. India : Carwar. On Padina tetrastromica near low water mark. Distr. Danish Waters, West Indies, Macassar. 02104997
