    gregarious. In Castanopsis-dominated forest with scattered Dipterocarps.

  • Description

    Pileus: (13-) 18-33 cm, convex with depressed disc, becoming somewhat plane, plicate-sulcate, pale grayish orange or grayish brown (6C3) to brown (6E4); hygrophanous. Context white, very thin.Stipe: (22-) 40-62 x (2.5-) 4-10 mm, subclavate, robust, solid, with thick cartilaginous rind; distinctly longitudinally fibrous; fibers concolorous with pileus over white ground. Basal mycelium copious, white. Context white.Hymenophore: Lamellae adnate, broad, moderately thick, subdistant, light pink-gray (6B2 or slightly more pink); edges entire; lamellulae present.Comments: Similar to Osmundson 1165, but with a lighter, pinkish gray, almost faintly violaceous color; not brown as in 1165, but could just be older, more faded.
