Currently wet, lightly forested hills with Melhania, .
Croton, Brachychiton, Indigofera, legume vines.
Surrounded by open grassland-savanna; savanna subject
to bums, hills do not. Rains-delayed this year - seasonal
rains later than normal. They coincide with hurricane
season [currently]. Very dry the rest of the year.
Locally common annual, flower buds maroon, plant
?silvery-grey; in open grassy areas below hill in full sun.

E. Long. North side of Almaden - Chillagoe Road,
isolated limestone hill, elevation approximately 1,485
feet. Level plain with isolated limestone hills and
boulders [somewhat metamorphosed - small mines
called marble mines scattered in area] - apparently
ancient reefs harder than surrounding substrate. Grey
limestone outcrop.
