Location

Costa Rica. San José. Dota (Canton). Jardin. ±3.5 km E of Interamerican Highway at Empalme.

Habitat

Montane cloud forest. Quercus copyensis, Q. seemannii.

Description

Pileus 44-48 mm dia, plane, margin more or less undulate, slightly decurved to plane, surface moist or dry to viscid, slightly innately fibrillose on teh margin, color light brown mixed with Buff Pink or pale brown on margin shaded with brownish Cinnamon Buff or slight Ochraceous Tawny, streaks on margin brownish. Odor pungent, taste bitter. Context 6 mm on disc, gradually then abruptly thinner on outer margin, solid, firm, white, in stipe white with yellowish stains, old stains brownish, dark brown inside in age, especially larva tunels. Lamellae to 20 mm long, to 5 mm wide, somewhat ventricose, close, edges more or less pale and even to irregular, faces with vioalceous color beneath brown from spores, in age deep rich brown (rust brown mixed with slight Walnut Brown tones), lamellulae in 3's, longer length variable, more or less 12-13 L+1/cm, moderately thin. Stipe 55-67 mm long, apex 10 mm thick, base bulbous 14-20 mm across, surface shiny white with lilac cast above bulb, some superficial fibrils, universal veil on rim white, base white with ochraceous stains, in age stipe discoloring yellowish to brownish.
