Hwy. 940, on rolling limestone mountain
top; elev. 8000 ft.

With general vegetation: Deschampsia,
Poa rupicola, Potentilla, Solidago,
Carex, Silene acaulis, Dryas, treeless
except for krumholtz spruce on lee slope
In powdery and rocky limestone soil in
N-facing draw.

Rays white to purplish on back,
involucre strongly purplish.
