Of the mature microsporocytes surveyed, 91 resulted in dyads, 30 resulted in triads. The 'triad- potential cells' had a small mass of chromatin at the periphery of the Hetaphase I plate. 10 resulted in tetrads of which 3 were normal looking and 7 contained 2 normal- sized cells plus 2 greatly reduced cells.
