Substrate metamorphic. Dry, gravelly areas above stream.
Associated species include Dechampsia cespitosa,

Potentilla glandulosa, Penstemon attenuatus, Sedum lanceolatum,
& Achillea millefolium. Plants occasional in gravel by stream.
Disk yellow, rays white or absent.
