This specimen was collected on 8/j3/8J.
At the time I did not realize it was unusual,
and failed to take extensive notes. The
following is an exerpt from my field notes
on that day. " Collected on sandstone ledges
of Entrada or Navajo Sandstone, at 7000',

T 14 N, R 12 W, S 24, 5 miles north of
Prewitt, N.M. . Associates:,Pinus edulis,
Juniperus monosperma, Cercocarpus montanus,
Echinocerus fendleri . Knight #1717.

This was my first collection' of this
taxon, and is the only specimen with
fresh ligulate flowers. The ligules
were white but faded pink.
