det. M. Nee, 2010

Iowa, Dubuque Co., along Hwy. 61, lA miles S of Hwy. 51
intersection.

42°24’41”N, 90°41 ’40”W. alt. 237 m.

On crushed limestone gravel with little or no competition on
the median side of divided Hwy. 61. Rare and sporadic N of
Maquoketa but common in the first 20 miles N of 1-80 and
along 1-80 in extreme western Illinois. It usually occurs in a
narrow strip between the gravel and the grass and is very
recognizable because of the uniform size and distinctive
coppery brown color at this time of the year.
