Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Unable to find the precise location of "lugar Maloca;" instead, georeferenced to the approximate geographic midpoint of Rio Canumã in Mun. Borba, Amazonas. Used Google Maps - Earth View to locate Rio Canumã, a tributary of Rio Madeira. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to measure a straight line between the mouth of Rio Canumã (confluence of Rio Canumã, Paraná Urariá, and Paraná do Canhumã, which eventually flows into Rio Madeira) and the headwaters of the river (where Rio Sucunduri and Rio Acari meet to form Rio Canumã), then halved this distance to find the midpoint of the line. Chose a point along Rio Canumã closest to the midpoint of the line; used Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates, on the adjacent shore (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool again to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of this segment of river. Input coordinates, linear extent (83820.0 m), and measurement error (50 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
