    east side of trunk, large palm in open shade. Tall, mostly evergreen forest with understorey of palms, on alluvial bottomland among limestone hills. Canopy 20-30 m, with Ciuarea spp., Orbignva. Protium. Sapotaceae spp., Euphorbiaceae spp.; emergents (Virola. Dialium. Spondias. Terminalia) to 40 m.
