HERBARIUM OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA MINNEAPOLIS Cirsium smallii Britton Georgia. Emanuel Co.: Hwy. 80, 3.6 mi. e. of Swainsboro. Very common along roadway in depression, dry, sandy soil; full flower. Apparently biennial; primary root ephemeral secondary roots fleshy with pungent odor. Corollas deep purple. Plants similar to No. 1342 but leaves glabrescent on both surfaces, Ivs. less deeply cut, flowering much later & corollas much darker. Gerald B. Ownbey 134?
